It’s clear the Crims are enjoying themselves on this gig; an unexpected percussive intervention on Cage has Belew guffawing in mid-song, providing him with an opportunity to comment on the beautiful rainbow he’d seen! An excerpt of Improv 1 was used on the Heavy ConstruKction live album under the title 7teas, and it appears here in its unedited form for the first time. The slow, smouldering nature of the improv lends an atmospheric dimension to the second night of the band’s stopover Copenhagen.

Someone who was at both gigs was Henrik Ditlevsen, who shared his thoughts on the shows with ET readers. “I think the set on the second night worked better than that on the first. Frying Pan are a better opener and Vrooom is a very good encore. I think the band found out on the first night that it is good to have an extra encore - people just wouldn't go home on the first night - they stood clapping and yelling for 10 minutes after the show, and they first stopped when a roadie packed Mr.Fripps guitar away. I don't know if I find the music on the second night better, but some songs worked better: The Coda: I Have a Dream, Heroes (a little bit longer than on the first night and played with more power) and Deception of the Thrush.”

For connoisseurs of Clams Crimsonique, the rendition of Vrooom will prove especially tasty!
