Reviewing the second night for Rolling Stone, Steve Futterman wrote “With solos and instrumental passages that stressed sonic experimentation over instrumental virtuosity, King Crimson buried their image as purveyors of ice-cold fusionesque indulgences. Their music now has all the aural enchantment and commotion that marks adventurous pop in the '90s."

The second night at the Town Hall takes a little while to find its level but once there Crimson turn in another highly charged performance. Belew is a constantly moving presence darting between showman and demented technician as he coaxes and cajoles some seriously deranged sounds from his guitar. But it’s not all stunt FX with Belew as a beautifully moving performance on One Time makes abundantly clear.

As with the previous evening, the improvised section of Thrak moves along at a fair pace with some brutal barrelhouse piano runs. Another unexpected delight is the Two Sticks improvisation: Trey and Tony’s differing styles dovetail into an area that certainly deserved greater exploration. Indiscipline has some of Fripp’s wildest guitar outings to date which suggests he was an especially happy gigster that night.
