“When did I start Frippertronics? I was introduced to the system by Captain Eno. It was in July 1972. I’d just reformed King Crimson, the gentlemen in Detroit had just left the band and Bill Bruford John Wetton David Cross & Jamie Muir had just joined and while we were rehearsing Larks’ Tongues In Aspic in Richmond, Eno had invited me around to have a glass of wine and simply visit...I took my pedal board and Les Paul for no reason that I could think of. Eno, for no reason I can still think of, said why don’t you plug into these two machines and what was side one of No Pussyfooting came out. That was the first night we’d ever spent together.I didn’t like it very much. He invited me around three weeks later and said ‘why don’t you listen to this again? It’s quite good you know.’ So I listened to it again and liked it immensely and we decided to release it. That was my first encounter with the system.”
