Well here’s a bonus track to whet your appetite. In delving into the tapes Mister Stormy has discovered a tape of the LOG in soundcheck mode vamping on a riff we’ve not heard before. Eagle-eared listeners will have no trouble in discerning the flowing lines of a nascent Discipline in this work-out.

In the middle of the set a technical problem with the keyboard requiring Andrews to delve into the innards of the Crumar, forces an impromptu guitar solo. When, at the conclusion, the problem still isn’t fixed, Fripp goes into Peace A Theme from In The Wake Of Poseidon - a piece not played in public since 1974. It’s interesting that although the LOG is meant to appeal to a younger crowd in theory, the practice means that even the introductory notes are met with a burst of audience approval and instant recognition.

Of the gig Fripp notes in his diary “The theatre we played in Dijon on the 16th (my 34th birthday) was a beautiful and old-fashioned affair with fiver tiers of balcony: a part of the old France that I so love, but for this group a specific example of what we should avoid. Despite the warmth of the audience and attempts from the group it was like trying to throw a vegetarian barbecue in Alaska at Christmas.
