A different day and a different dynamic! Once again the set list has been tweaked a little and puts B’Boom in prime position as quite a curtain raiser, and a strong, bustling improvisation not too long after in Thrak. Belew mentions the now-infamous Toast Bass - Levin’s Musicman bass guitar destroyed in a fire in his storage - which would later grace the artwork of THRaKaTTaK album after a stonking rendition of Neurotica which once again benefits from its pairing with Two Sticks. “I imagine some of you will be among the 50 million viewers tomorrow night who will see the Beatles Anthology, and here for the first time, a brand new song called Free As A Bird, which has been a closely guarded secret throughout the industry, but as it happens, I have a demo tape of it with just John Lennon’s voice and piano, and a lot of missing words. But I’ll give you a world preview. You can say you heard it first here before the rest of the world.” He then launches into what was then the still-unreleased Lennon ballad which would be remade by the surviving Beatles and ELO’s Jeff Lynne. The set lists offered a bit more variety as well although it’s a shame that both Sleepless and Heartbeat don’t show up. If you like the Double Trio line up at all, then you must get this show!
