You might not think a day here or there would make too much difference either way, but tonight is the hotter of these two concerts presented “back to back”. Perhaps the previous day spent resting and travelling had recharged the collective batteries? Whatever the reason, you can feel the tension and energies of the opening numbers culminate in an especially aggressive rendition of Vrooom Vrooom.

Something of that juice spills over into a particularly snappy B’Boom before bounding into an awesome Thrak. Busier than the improv from Tokyo, it’s as though Bruford can’t quite let go, opening up with some sprightly brush-work to dance around Adrian’s recurring tinkling piano motif. And like the gig in Tokyo, this too was edited and utilised as “Mother Hold The Candle Steady While I Shave The Chicken’s Lip” from THRaKaTTak. This time, however we get to hear the full explosive sci-fi doodle-bug ending in its proper place.

The change of pace necessitated by a somewhat doleful Walking On Air offers some respite though by Sex Eat Sleep Drink Dream, it sounds like the roof is in danger of coming off.

The overall speed of the evening gets the better of the band a little during LTIA but I’m sure such critical nit-picking would get you a deserved cuff upside the head from any punter present on this night. This one’s a hummer!
