Prior to the beginning of the tour Fripp outlined his personal aims for the dates ahead, stating it was “to see to what extent live performance is part of my (future) life as a professional musician.” While the idea of touring in a rock context was at this point something of a remote possibility, the soundscaping soloist had truly come into his own in much the same way that 1979’s Frippertronics had enabled him to approach making music without the usual industry encumbrances.
Not quite a formal gig but more of an open rehearsal for friends of the extended Crafty family in the area. Consequently, this is a truncated performance with only two ‘scapes. Even in this reduced state, the pieces maintain their ability to captivate and enthrall as they create what feels like a haven away from the pace and turmoil of everyday life.
