I waited 33 years to see King Crimson and it was not what I expected. I hadn't heard the Orpheum release prior to the gig but was familiar with the repertoire. This gig was a surprise on many levels. One, the musicianship of the septet was outstanding and it was great to hear some of the 'classics' performed - especially 21 Century Schizoid man. The other surprises were the minimalist staging and lighting - not what I expected after seeing the DVDs, and the lack of banter. The music was to speak...
