If you only want to buy one show out of this bundle of gigs then you could do a lot worse than your lugs around this gorgeous, radiant set from Birmingham. Of course it wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea as imthehelloutahere from Vai dot Com explains. “I am sorry to say but Fripps random noises for half an hour was dreadful , although in the jam the parts he did were pretty good which was annoying as he can play !. His "set" was just like listening to a yamaha synth hooked up to some big speakers with use of modulation and pitch bend. Some of the comments i had heard before wtinessing the whole "experience" were spot on. I was like either some sci fi/space movie , a programme about endangered dolphins or just absolute rubbish !! It was totally uninteresting. He sat to the side , so we couldn't really see the guy very well; would have been good if we had not been able to hear him either. Once he was finished though , we had some show !!!!
Slow handclaps and booing emanated from part of the crowd although accompanied although as Wayne explains on Vai dot Com, there may have been some misunderstanding as to what was occuring “I was in the audience on the left hand side of the stage. From this angle Robert Fripp was completely hidden behind a speaker, in fact I didn't know the opening act was Robert Fripp before I read this post. So the vocal guys behind me thought they were sitting through some weird filler music waiting for someone to come on.”
