Speaking in 1986 to Guitar Player magazine Fripp described the original Frippertronics tour "it went very, very public in 1979 with a four-month solo tour – two months in Europe and two in America. And it was there, actually in front of people – in record shops, pizza parlors, record offices, small cinemas, museums, all matter of places – that I began to learn to work with it pretty well. I would run the tape back and improvise on top of it."

Nowadays we tend to take these kinds of things for granted - that a musician can hit the road and play in such unconventional locations. Yet the Frippertronics enterprise was a truly radical undertaking, bucking the conventions of the day.
Listening to this music some 30 years after it was recorded that sense of radicalism and adventure are clearly evident. Though not quite as fiery as the day's other performance, Fripp's contemplative mood gives way to some low-down grinding as his guitar seems to revel in the low growls churning up the sonic gravel and dirt on Loop III And Solo II.
