The second night of the European tour and only their sixth gig, the LOG are in fine form, if a little unsteady in the early parts of the set. Some of that unsteadiness might be due to distractions from flash photography, as a rather weary-sounding Robert Fripp asks punters to desist. “There is a tradition in rock music that one should not listen to the music but try to photograph it. That this has some validity in some traditions I understand, but not in this. So, for those who’ve come along to steal a little from the air, I ask you not to. There are very good reasons which we’d probably waste our time to talk about now. But to those of you who’ve bought cameras along I ask you to please put them away.”

Interesting to be able to compare two versions of Inductive Resonance. Closing the opening set the first one is almost laconic in its delivery with several changes going awry as though the parts hadn’t quite been sewn into position. The second is also fairly laid back in tempo (compared to the more accelerated renditions later in the tour) but feels more grounded. By the way, the first version of Eye Needle is a real show-stopper. If it doesn’t make your jaw drop then it’s likely you haven’t got a pulse! Simply astonishing. Elsewhere, accompanied by calls to play Lady Of The Dancing Water,(they don't!) the second set is the winner here.
