The whole point of the ProjeKct enterprise was to develop the next batch of Crimson material and have some fun at the same time.[endtease] Anyone coming new to this line-up will be intrigued to hear the themes from the majority of The ConstrucKtion of Light album in their early forms, including a sneaky peek of FraKctured around the 5.30 mark during Light ConstruKction. Live Groove is a headlong charge into a blinding Gunn solo set against a wash of those bitter-sweet Starless-style strings that grab your throat and heart at the same time. And of course you know you’re going to want to hear The Deception of the Thrush soar off into the clouds.
Also on offer here is a short mid-set outing for Adrian Belew, who had been working his socks off behind the V-drums during the first half. We get a short selection of songs from his solo albums as well as fairly rare solo rendition of Matte Kudasai, and a truly superb acoustic rendition of Dinosaur which knocks spots off the version he did the very next day.
Arguably the most varied and diverse show of their brief career, ProjeKct Two is on devastating form here with plenty to keep both grizzled KC vets and newcomers more than happy.

This is truly a standout performance by P2 and it’s one of the only ones that seems to include Adrian’s solo numbers as well. The band hit the ground running with an incendiary Live Groove and never let up.

up to date and varied
It has been mentioned before - it really is worthwile checking out indivudual downloads again and again, since they might vary quite a bit from each other. I am not the kind of fan who is the completist. If versions are too similar to each other, I choose rather sth. new - no matter how good the band is. However, with Crimson,. and especially with the ProjeKcts it is very different. ProjeKct II has released quite different material and over all I would say I like the "Live Groove " version as a...

I am not the kind of fan who is the completist. If versions are too similar to each other, I choose rather sth. new - no matter how good the band is. However, with Crimson,. and especially with the ProjeKcts it is very different. ProjeKct II has released quite different material and over all I would say I like the "Live Groove " version as an intro to P II best, since it is rather concise and most likely to be the one that caters to those Crimson fans who prefer written material. This set here, however, is the most varied I have heard up to now. It is - for the first time - a mix of improvs and acoustic songs, which gives the entire concert a nice touch, especially, if you hear it loud and in a concentrated fashion. The P II stuff is very much based in the - at the time - growing field of electroinca and drum and bass (check out e.g. the superb drumming on Heavy ContruKction) but with a Miles Davis touch for improvs... This set also "rocks" more out than the studio album and really offers sth. new from tune to tune. The Vroom version is a club version and also quite spectecular in its "non rocking" approach. Overall, a set one defintly should download. I hope there will also be more ProjeKcts in the near future. Cheers, heavenly

This show is in a word: spectacular. I’m somewhat of a newcomer to the ProjeKcts, but this stuff really knocks my socks off. We get the sound of a band that is deeply engrossed in their music, unlike some of the TPTB shows IMO, even though I love those. It seems like these guys are just knee deep in fresh music which is a change from their usual performance of already written songs. They’re fired up and ready to rumble. Adrian, pumped as ever, delivers some excellent versions of classic solo...

It seems like these guys are just knee deep in fresh music which is a change from their usual performance of already written songs. They’re fired up and ready to rumble. Adrian, pumped as ever, delivers some excellent versions of classic solo/crim tunes alike, giving the boys a break to recharge their batteries. I’m still surprised at the imrpovizational ability of this band. I look forward to many more P2 shows!
