There’s a certain reach and suppleness within the playing in this live context that makes their studio CD, Space Groove, seem almost arthritic by comparison. Underpinning it all is an infectious, bubbling joy as things get thrown around. Whether it be the light as air touches in Thrush are heavy wailing on House, there’s a sense that nothing is off limits. That said, the frankly wacky goings on in Sector Patrol might be proof that you can have too much of a good thing after all! A slightly subdued Contrary gets up to speed to bring the set to a rousing finish.
Trey’s verdict at the time: “A good first tour gig. Nothing extraordinary occurred in the performance, but it was a good solid show.”
