Somewhere from the murk of this audience recording King Crimson emerge full of vim and vigour. Waiting Man finally gets the punters attention and so the commentary drops off or, more accurately, is beaten (see what I did there?) into submission. Bruford is clearly having a ball on Thela opting for some double drumming that crunches all before it. The Sheltering Sky though occasionally subject to some conversational interference is powerful with soaring runs from Fripp and squalling surges from Belew. Levin is on fire throughout Neurotica and the ever ebullient Bruford knocks the ball out of the park for Indiscipline. A strong gig for the Crims that manages to take off despite the sonic limitations of the source recording.

Just what Jerry Smith has written - I though have the (dis)advantage to understand German - most of what is being describd as "chatty" is one very discontent person who disses KC halfway through all the quieter bits - especially The Sheltering Sky he refers to as "grausam" (horrible) and "fürchterlich" (dreadful) - gladly KC is loud enough most of he time to drown him out.
One other person actually says "wir müssen dann nachher noch Genesis ertragen" (We'll have to endure Genesis later on.) -...

One other person actually says "wir müssen dann nachher noch Genesis ertragen" (We'll have to endure Genesis later on.) - wtf? Why has he even been there?
I like these boot recordings - they always give a distinctly different aural perspective. This is not the best I've heard, but surely interesting.

On this evening, the band was opening for Genesis and this audience tape isn’t too bad. During the opening Waiting Man you can hear a bit whopping, hollering and the taper adjusting his mics during the first minute or two. Things calm down a bit for the rest of the song and it’s a pretty good version. Both Thela Hun Ginjeet and Red get the crowd worked up but this also affects the quality of the recording. Things calm down a bit for the rest of the song and it’s a pretty good version. Both Thela Hun Ginjeet and Red get the crowd worked up but this also affects the quality of the recording. Both Matte Kudasai and The Sheltering Sky are very well performed but the crowd also becomes a bit "chatty" during this section, Neurotica and Larks II bring the heat but once again, reveal the limitations of the recording. It’s a shame that the recordist couldn’t have used a poll to raise the mics up a few feet above the crowd. However, the taper probably would’ve been bounced for doing that.
