“I do think it’s good - how do you say that in German,” Belew enquires during Indiscipline. Listening to Indiscipline not only here but throughout this tour, it’s immediately apparent how much Bill Bruford enjoys rattling the cage of King Crimson’s constraints and self-imposed restrictions that were part of developing their patented brand of ‘Gamelan rock.’

Tonight, as on other evenings, his salvos alongside Tony’s bass pulse have a devilishly provocative demeanour as he scrambles and runs against the prevailing meter, while Belew recites his then-wife’s observations about her painting.

While this particular audience recording is a little grainy in no way does it diminish the sheer ebullience and unbridled joy of the players as they surge like a riptide through the track’s initially deceptive calm. And despite all the explosive drama of the evening’s music, there’s something remarkably majestic and stately about the band as they enter into the end section just ahead of Belew’s somersaulting solo in Larks’ Tongues In Aspic Part 2.
