The contrast with the methodical steps of Discipline and the seemingly chaotic slashing cross-rhythms of Thela stand as a good indicator as to what this band was all about.
At this point, the second show into their European tour, audiences have had just under a month to assimilate the new face and sounds of a rejuvenated King Crimson following the release of Discipline in September.
Even with the passage of 42 years, there’s still a visceral excitement at hearing the new lineup working through this new material. There’s also a sense of wonderment at hearing them address older material. While Larks Tongues In Epic Part 2 had been a feature of the 73/74 incarnation, Red had never been performed live. Hearing it blowing the roof off venues on this tour makes it all the more special.
