The response from large portions of the audiences on the G3 tour hasn’t always supportive. However, as Fripp’s diary notes, there’s a hint that things are changing.

“Tonight, the crowd was more enthusiastic than anywhere else. After yesterday's limp showing, today was closer to form and responsiveness. The beginning 30 minutes tentative and exploratory, and the conclusion powerfully ambiguous with one stereo pair of the quadrophonic system on a whole-tone scale beginning on F with flute, the second stereo pair on a whole-tone beginning on E with flugelhorn. Stu Hamm joined me for over an hour. For the first time, I walked around the covered amphitheatre and checked the sound from the front.

A warm summer evening and a simple joy to be playing here.

Mike Keneally nearly joined Hamm & Fripp tonight - his equipment wasn't set up - but is invited to join in future.”

Please note that Stu Hamm’s contributions to this performance are not part of the recording presented here.
