Sailor’s Tale contains so many memorable moments it can be hard to keep track of them all; the glancing cymbals; that galloping intro; Mel Collins’ opening salvo; the drop before Fripp’s solo; the mellotron coming in as the guitar solo sparks fly; the airburst as the rest of the band come in; Collins and Jakszyk blasting out the theme against the turbulence around them; that final rundown into growling mellotron and silence. That’s just some of mine. What’s yours?
