King Crimson’s always had a soft-spot for a ballad. This one had its origins in a set of improvisations between Robert Fripp and Jakko Jakszyk in 2009, eventually becoming the title track to 2011’s A Scarcity Of Miracles. The Jakszyk, Fripp And Collins album was dubbed a King Crimson ProjeKct at the time of its release, and was included in the KC setlist at RF’s suggestion. It’s possible to hear why Fripp made that call in one of his most yearning guitar solos against that atmospheric wash of Mellotron.
