Originally recorded by Jakszyk, Fripp & Collins in 2011, The Light Of Day hails from The Scarcity Of Miracles album and also featured Tony Levin and Gavin Harrison. Released as a King Crimson projeKct, the record was the precursor of the new Crimson. In some fan forums at the time the number was dismissed or derided as not being worthy of inclusion in the setlist or being ‘a bit too weird’. Yet careful listening reveals that in an otherwise tightly-drilled setlist, the amorphous, open-ended feel of the piece evokes the kind of pensive moods that the 1972-73 lineup was fond of visiting. This particular performance features brutal gear from Fripp whose improvised melodic line is chased and repeated in a quick-as-a-flash manner by Collins.
