I seem to remember Robert Fripp once saying that the 1970s Crims were too young to fully execute their conceptions. Last night, a mature Crim executed with such force and panache that I think Robert was right about that. 42 years after it was released, I finally got two of the tracks off of "Islands" at the intensity they always needed. Watching Gavin, Bill and Pat pass beats back and forth is sublime and Mel simply played his heart out. After a stunning passage, the guy sat down for a sec with an exhausted smile. Like all of his bandmates, he isn’t holding anything back. I am still flattened. See them if you can.
