A wonderfully up-close-and-in-room earful of Levin and Bruford conjuring up a kind of space-jazz that would make up the spine of Requiem during the recording of Beat.

This track is available for download as part of a bumper collection of Mr Stormy's Monday Selections. His fifth year of treasures from the murky, cavernous DGM archives, is now available for download.

master(s) in the moment
What really needs to be said: just listen to a master drummer in the moment--playing improvisatory and intuitively while at the same time reacting to Tony Levin’s bass (fretless?) underpinnings (who in turn, reacts to the percussive eruptions). Bill Bruford on an acoustic drum kit, summoning his jazz lineage tutelage: a deft, agile, touch and approach, aligned with distinctively sounding, well-tuned drums. The initial musical instrument was the heartbeat. Jazz is rhythm.
