On this part of the tour, it was not uncommon to hear that many attending likened the evening to being more of a mixed arts event rather than a straight-forward concert or recital. Not only was there live music in the shape of these mysterious and amorphous sounds notionally appearing to emanate from guitar, pedals, and processors, Fripp could often be seen leaving the guitar stool to stand at the side of the stage or mixing desk as he considered the ‘scape’s progress and possible directions it might take next.
Then there were the intervals wherein questions were taken prompting some unexpected response, as well as unexpected previews of the forthcoming ProjeKct Two Space Groove album a good two or three months before its release date. Not every attendee was entirely convinced by such an eclectic mix and approach, with some feeling compelled to express their disapproval or disappointment at some volume. That said, they would have needed a huge PA of their own to compete with the threnody-like howl that makes up the bulk of Toronto IV, a piece that's not for the faint-hearted or closed-of-ear fan.
