With a superb rendition of The ConstruKction Of Light under their belt, the band entered into a run of smart, highly focused best-yet performances of Neurotica, Red, and Three Of A Perfect Pair. After the band charge up the atmosphere with The Talking Drum and a near-cathartic LTIA PtII and a storming N’Boom, you’ll hear Belew howl with laughter at the end of what is undoubtedly a stunningly good version of Frame By Frame and there’s something positively infernal growling within Level Five.
There’s an undeniable sense that whatever had sapped some of their energy earlier in the tour was now accommodated and put aside and everyone in the band is where they need to be. Be sure to listen out for the riotous version of Indiscipline with Gavin slipping in a quote from The Shaggs’ My Pal Foot Foot as Pat triggers the laughing box from Easy Money. It’s a sound you’re unlikely to hear anywhere else on the planet.
