A memorial service for Sir Edward Heath was held this morning at 11.00 in Westminster Abbey, attended by leading politicians such as Prime Minister Tony Blair & former PM Baroness Thatcher, and many Members from the Houses of Parliament opposite. These, and many friends & acquaintances of Sir Edward, filled the Abbey. A moving event, particularly the Adagio from Elgar’s cello concerto (played by Felix Schimdt with the European Union Youth Orchestra) and Lord Hurd’s address.
To the Chiswick High Road for lunch with an artist friend who, by various coincidences & operations of the Six Degrees Law, links us to other friends; and whose work hangs at our home and in World HQ.
A long drive to Dartmoor, with wetness of the weather along the way.
