Today we went through The Great Divide of the next stage of this process. The past two days have been heavy going with team members battling exhaustion & frenzies of various kinds. But we have persisted. And - hooray! - we're on the other side of "Into The Frying Pan".
The piece connects two themes from "ProjeKction", plus a song idea based on one of them which Ade & I were working on during my November visit. Pat has become as archetypical a Crimson drummer as any, while being very much his own person. His part on "Frying Pan" is a good example of the Crimson Drummer Virus in effect: choogling along in a heavy pudding at 98 bpm with the singer singing, suddenly the drums shift to the offbeat. Why? It's the Crimson Drummer Virus at work! If everyone else is on the beat, why should the drummer be? Good question. The answer is in the drums.
Toyah is in good spirits: the opening has been going well.
