Robert Fripp's Diary

Leave (hotel) 11.00

Leave (hotel) 11.00. Sleep in car to Boston. At airport coffee shop John McLaughlin called me over. Introduces me to violinist & Michael (Narada Walden) the drummer.

To gate c. 13.15 to Washington. P.W. (Peter Walmsley FOH sound mixer) gives me cross from ecstatic fan last night.

On ‘plane discussed how to tell D.C. I said I’d do it. My approach will be forestalling D.C.’s own choice to leave.

20.20 To gig. Steeleye Span. My octaves are out. B.B. shouts “Hurry up”. I say: :Don’t shout at me again, man”.

Gig: Cold audience. Face out at beginning of “Fracture” changes things in our favour. “Part Two” goes down a storm. Fuzz on “Easy Money” solo – v. effective.
