Rising at 07.30 to a most-welcome Free Day, but a little too dribbley to either do-something or do-nothing, I instructed my legs to set off for the nearby Starbucks with Peter Vansittart’s The Fifties (John Murray 1995).
In recent years, online correspondence & computerising has reduced my reading significantly. So, an hour or so of stirring the verbal-mind with a well-written volume of a society & culture, in a particular snapshot of its existence & now almost gone, seemed a worthy alternative to e-frenzying my beginning Free Day. Then, a different form of stimulation: Mission Impossible III – bang! el crumpo! biff! stirring acts of heroism that vanquish the baddies! – in the cinema directly opposite the hotel.
Now, charged up to a level of sentience sufficient for me to I know I inhabit a dribbling & insentient creature, an e-frenzy is underway…
The Sidney smith has asked for a quick quote for all our (DGM Live) readers and this is from the English guitarist in the band…
sid - on the basis of playing two sets for two evenings, i can confirm that the music is slow. for my part, i’m having fun & enjoying playing - immensely. things move a lot quicker in Mission Impossible III.
