Hotel Acceptable But There Are Loud Drunks Here, Milton Keynes.
At the breakfast room this morning, no one switched on the Noise Pollution Unit. What a difference, and a better difference.
Took T to the theatre & then met Uncle Bill, his daughter, his grandson & girlfriend, for lunch; and accompanied them to the theatre for the panto. Uncle Bill told me of his adventures in the centre of London on 7th. July; this was when BBC tv news included him in their presentation of that day’s events.
Returning to the hotel, I now find myself in the presence of Binge Drinking Britain, not a place I visit very often. Half-a-dozen young men are at the bar, shouting very loudly & on an ongoing basis. In a business-oriented hotel, this is surprising.
15.58 The shouting of the young drunks is now so loud that it has penetrated my
Excellent noise cancellation headphones, donned especially for that purpose.
16.19 The shouting men continue to shout.
16.28 The young men have just left. Hotel employees are relieved & tell me the story: the young men are Irish & en route to a wedding in Northampton. The wedding guests have asked for accommodation here again tonight, on their return from the wedding. The hotel told them it is “full for a conference”. This is not strictly accurate. Actually, it is utterly untrue. The young men have damaged rooms, had a damage bill added to their room rate, pissed off the room servicing lady who had work enough already, and been an embarrassment to the hotel; which does not want them back. The departing drinkers left several t-shirts & full pint glasses of beer on their bar table.
18.41 Working with new software: Macspeech. The dictation needs some calibration to improve accuracy. This is the first attempt… On the fall idea and sitting on the floor New program. Wondering when they’re in this will significantly help my a repeat the usage. So far, jury is at. So that thank you for that.
