Broad accents of the Broad Chalke variety drifted through the party wall between our two offices at 08.39.

On the Guestbook, this well-meaning & encouraging question is an interrogative equivalent of the Bright Idea…

A MATCH OF VISIONS:: Posted by DrFate on June 19, 2007

At this advanced stage of note-playing in many "senior" musicians careers, I wonder why said musician has never played with another particular individual.

I share this desire in our world, as I imagine what could be........

Specifically, has Mr. Fripp ever played with, had any notion to play with, would entertain a meeting to create music with (any name of your choice)…

Why not ????

… is not actually a question at all. I find apophatic enquiry not as useful as the cataphonic.

A better question is, why? Why are we doing what we are doing? And if we seek a deeper answer, then ask why seven times. Otherwise, we spend a lot of time addressing what we are not doing, rather than what we are doing. But then, perhaps DrFate will argue the merits of the via negativa as a means of establishing truth.

Ask why not? seven times…

13.12 The tear-inducing Pastorale from Mendoza is already up for free download, on my first morning back at HQ. Good work from Mr. Stormy.

The Minx is on business in France, without her husband. One possible question: why am I not there? One possible answer: because I am here.

The Groningen Guitar Duo

Unsolicited CDs are often in my awaiting post. Today, this includes one from a mad person. Many of those who live their lives under public gaze do not mention their difficulties with crazy people. In GC terms, abnormal-abnormal to distinguish them from normal-abnormal; ie the rest of us. One of the reasons for this reticence in commentary is that the distance between the two categories is not very great at all.

Crazy people know they are sane, and right.

Sane people know they have rights; and are not crazy to demand them of others, regardless of whether there is any factual, equitable, justifiable or prima facie basis for their demands, or not.

The in-between category – borderline – is an interesting & problematic area, currently under investigation by a specialist within Guitar Craft.

14.27  My sense is that the journal experiment on the Guitar Craft site has served its purpose, and this will cease to exist on June 21st. 2007. However, the information on Crafty activities reported by members of the Team in different parts of the world is useful to many of us. Those who share this view may consider the provision of a private access "journal department" on an appropriate site. Essentially, it is the responsibility of journalisers to judge the need, and respond accordingly.

16.32  We are continuing to discuss the appropriate form for a GC Tithing Account on behalf of the GCIR&P. This is more complex than I would like, that we may ensure transparency, straightforwardness, safety & efficiency of the contributions. Those who are committed & wondering why they have not been contacted regarding account details, for the beginning of their commitment period tomorrow – better to get this right now than have to deal with it later.

More when I have it.

17.57  E-frenzy re: the GCIR&P. dribble. And it’s not even evening.
