DGM HQ.
Broad accents of the local kind have been drifting through from the Village Store, usually not long after their telephone rings. Soon, more birds will be flying into the mouths of happy eaters.
10.12 Soundscapes - Up The Junction is now No. 9 in the DGMlive Top Ten, up three places from yesterday.
Soundscapes at St. Andrew’s, Sutton is accompanying the eruptions of our DGM HQ burglar alarm. A technician is visiting & testing the alarm system. If my ears are any judge, it is working very well. Soundscapes + Burglar Alarm is not a duet I recommend.
And, for those honest, reasonable punters who might have difficulties in understanding how the music industry works, try this… http://www.eff.org/IP/DRM/Sony-BMG/. I found an article on the subject in the FT (12-XII-2005) & took notice. This is a list of the artists whose CDs have been given added value… http://www.sunncomm.com/support/faq/releases.asp. I would be interested to know if they were consulted beforehand.
11.16 A Seasonal call of good wishes to Mel Collins, currently in Germany. Few players continue to astonish me, such is the quality of their work: Mel is one of these.
11.50 Life dies that life might continue. Our Landlord At Work…
12.03 DGM SoundWorld II.
Alex, David & Robert are mastering a performance for downloading: Soundscapes at St. Andrew’s, Sutton (December 12th. 2005) is underway.
12.30 Sutton is a wonderful unfolding that takes the time it takes to unfold. This is mostly a result of playing in a church, rather than performing to standing rock punters who are smoking & drinking. At Sutton, there is no pressure, explicit or implicit, to maintain an eventing to hold the audience’s attention. When a crowd’s attention is strongly elsewhere, even without active or directed nastiness, the player bumps up against a tangible barrier.
A reasonable question: so why continue playing in the face of apathy and/or antagonism? One answer, of several: we develop leg muscles by walking uphill.
Another reasonable question: why put up a series of performances that are very similar in nature or character? One answer, of several: because an audient at St. Andrew’s, Sutton, has a greater interest and investment in that performance than a performance in Manchester that they did not attend.
This is much nicer than I remember says Alex, sitting at the SaDie editor, and whose full listening attention was partly consumed while assuming the posture that evening in Cambridgeshire.
12.53 Some more Music At The End Of Time almost ready for upload.
13.48 Live At The Shepherd’s Bush Empire (December 7th. 2005) is now underway in SoundWorld II.
16.16 Ben Crowe of Crimson Guitars visited to deliver a guitar, take away several others, and show a prototype of the Happy Gigsters’ Flight Case (Professional model).
16.46 Soundscapes - Live At The Shepherd’s Bush Empire (December 7th. 2005) is now being enFlacced by Alex for uploading & about-to-be-becoming downloading.
And I am attempting to clear a desk sufficiently to go home to Bredonborough.
