Casa Stella Maris Caorle Italy

14.57

Casa Stella Maris, Caorle, Italy.

Rising in Bredonborough 03.15, after a little less than three hours sleep. Kissing the Minx goodbye at 04.10 and from the entrance lobby I…

On the street…

… awaiting the arrival of the KevinMobile. Instead, T appeared at the front door in her nightie, ‘phone in hand. Kevin’s van had a puncture, irreparable due to various conditions. Kevin was unable to contact an alternative driver, or alternative vehicle. I drove to collect Kevin on the street by the Fire Station in my old, ratty motor, disowned yesterday. Kevin took over…

… and we set off for Heathrow T5. Arriving c. 06.30, only fifteen minutes later than our ETA.

Straightforward transiting through procedures, although my tuning forks attracted security interest and additional scanning: this is not unusual. Giraffe for breakfast. A blocked credit card: this cannot be done from Italy. So, an alternative strategy set in place.

An acceptable seat…

… and in the air 10.10, landing Venice Airport c. 12.00. Roberto and Big Al were waiting. Into the DuseMobile…

… and here to the Casa Stella Maris…

Sunshine, blueness of the sky, arriving 13.25.
Door-to-door 04.15 to 13.25, nine hours and ten minutes of journeying time.

Into lunch I…

… at 13.30. Around the tables: a good selection of both recent-returners and lifers, more to arrive throughout the afternoon.

A deep quiet moved to Silence. If I were asked what is the primary experience of Guitar Craft / the Guitar Circle, it would be: the presence of Silence. But this is not something that we can bring or “do”. So, what do we do?

Q:    What is “taught” at GC?

A:    The development of a personal discipline, that we may hold ourselves present and quiet, that Silence may more fully enter into us and become part of who we are.
Q:    What’s that got to do with music, then?

A:    Music is Silence, speaking. In developing an instrumental facility, a musical capacity, we become increasingly available to give Silence a voice. The more we are able to be quietly present, the more directly and truly we are able to speak for Silence; and, at a certain point, to speak as Silence.

It is quite an experience to feel Music entering the notes we are playing. Something like, a good Friend entering the room, approaching and embracing us.

Now, packing is unned, computer and stuff on desk and shelves, and dribbling is underway from a very early beginning.

Dribble dribble.

18.40    An afternoon mostly resting.

22.43    Roberto D set up my wifi connection as Director Nunez appeared, a hero wearied by lots of travelling.

Dinner at 19.30.
Silence visited. Brother Frank visited too.
Conversation with Hernan and Dr. Mike over dinner.
One person yet to arrive: Mariela our Alexander teacher.

Hernan and Big Al have delivered an excellent GC Pro.

Visiting the Guitar Circle c. 22.20, alluring sounds drawing me into the ballroom: 27 guitars around the Circle, completing c. 22.30.
