Walking around the house after breakfast, I saw how the space might be used in the course. So, at the 09.15 Cleaning Duties meeting, I presented the suggestion. The space is now cleared, swept, washed & arranged to support one guitar group of 14…

14.12 A comment a lunch: because I saw how the main house might function, I was able to take the initiative. Now, I am in responsive mode, and Dev has the view of the site as a whole. In responsive mode, I am available to anyone who asks for my help; but I am not going around looking for ways to be helpful.
15.56 Dev came for to ask for help: cleaning the back stairs to the kitchen. This was a good call: it was a filthy area. Cleaning & preparing the space/s continued with completion meeting at 15.35.
16.27 A new set of arrivals at teatime.
19.28 Dinner is late.
21.04 A Japanese approach to dinner. Grace adopted the variant form: all must live to eat. This usually appears some way into a course, where food has become a central focus. But begin as you intend to continue!
The Inaugural Meeting is now at 21.45.
22.39 The Circulation Project was acknowledged begun at 21.50. Although we are not quite sure when it began, we are sure that it has. We went around the room introducing ourselves, saying who we are, where we come from, what brought us here, and our aim for the course.
Guitar Craft is a great benevolence, available for a limited period of time. Unless we act within the available period, the opportunity is gone.
My personal aim/s: to develop Circulations, and our experiencing of the subtleties involved. (An example of subtlety given: knowing which note conventionally follows D in a C major scale). One-third of those on the recent Spanish Circulations project were functionally incompetent in C major. It seems that, if we need to be on a GC Course, we turn up; and if we have a need, this is acceptable. What are we doing when we circulate?
At A Distance participants were spoken for.
Other comments: AAD refers not only to distance in space, but also distance in time. Reference was made to practices within an ongoing living tradition, where time provides no distance between family.
Practicalities were announced, including that the dormitory has no bathroom facilities & no outside lights. And beware of deer ticks – they do horrible things to the skin! Deer ticks are hiding in the grass between the unlit-dormitory-steps and the toilets in nearby accommodations. I’m very pleased I’m not staying in the dormitory.
