Bredonborough On this day one

09.33

Bredonborough.

On this day, one year ago, my Uncle Bill (Alfie Fripp POW dies) flew from this world.

Today, hailstones are falling. Britain has multiple flood warnings and continuing rain, mainly in the West Country.

Academic discussions, and most other commentary on music, musicians and performance, usually fail to fully consider the effects of two primary contributory elements: the audience and the industry. There are other elements to consider when fully addressing The Act Of Music, but these two are fundamental to a consideration of the music system…

As you considered the parameters for a different tuning for the guitar did you investigate frequency as "reported" in the story below? What are your thoughts/feelings on A440 hz vs A432 hz vs A420 hz?
/heres-why-you-should-convert-your-music-to-432hz/

The (fairly) recent history of pitch shows quite a variation, with Handel and Mozart favouring 422-433 (opens PDF) The twentieth-century choice of A=440 Hz was a compromise between two important traditions: the pitch level favoured by the composers of eighteenth-century music that remains important to the concert repertoire, and the more brilliant pitch levels introduced by the makers of nineteenth-century wind- instruments. Meanwhile, the revival in recent decades of period instruments tuned to one or the other historic pitch has prompted a new awareness of pitch as stylistically contingent rather than absolute.

The Cymatics experiment I find persuasive and would be interested to know the experiences of those with perfect pitch, assuming their sense of pitch has not been compromised by upbringing and “education” (online tuning fork / Absolute pitch). Were Walter’s question to be: Do you find the song of the world to be a little sharp, a little tight and overwrought? The answer would be: Yes!

… where WillyFred needed an overnight stay. Not WillyFred’s favourite lodgings, not our fave choice of accommodation for him either.

Home to lunch.

17.05    An afternoon of e-fury. Re-engaging with a swelling inbox.

19.55    A visit by our local pal, formerly of the haunted house across the Market Square, popping into to collect a present for his daughter and one for local pal and his Wife.

To a little practising.

Now, gentling time. WillyFred needs loving attention, and so does my Wife.
