WiFi is 25 euros for 24 hours, or E15 for 60 minutes. US visitors please note, that’s c. $27.50 for one hour. The linen-laid restaurant promised good meals, but a little too much for arriving travelers with 30 minutes ordering time left. The bar is smoke filled, the behind-the-bar chatelaine smoking furiously with her visiting guest-pal also smoking furiously, other guests also smoking. The stench in the small bar is awful, drifting through the rest of the small building & up the stairs to our guest rooms.
Nevertheless, this is what it is. The room is clean, acceptable – and no charge for the smoke that permeates this guestroom (with a No Smoking sign on prominent display).
A call to the Minx. Today was the Willcox family lunch & day to celebrate Barbara’s birthday. They sailed Beric’s boat Tortuga Bay from the Wyre Mill Club and moored it at the end of Barbara’s garden, a short distance up-river. This was a moving moment for the family and for Beric’s friends at the club, as the Willcox family-boat left the club after 50 years, never to return.
