A grey, wet day.

Catching up with local news. Green’s Ironmongers is closed, with water in the cellar & material in the outbuilding ruined; their riverside pavilion disappeared.

The bank where I was to open the GCIRP account today is closed.

The Cellar here, fortunately, is dry. Mr. Fromage Grand took the water table into account when our old cellar was becoming The Cellar. The old cellar was like a cellar: dry for a cellar, damp for a room, with flags laid on bare earth. The flooding has receded considerably but the water table continues to rise, after the event, as the ground absorbs the exceptional level of rainfall.
