Runthrough c. 15.40 - 16.40. The Team left. I remained in Bishops Cleeve, visited the village bookshop en route to the modest pub for coffee & light nibbling. Returning c .17.45 to a service in progress.
Doors open at 19.00 to the sparse bleeps & drones of SoundSculpting.
The guest guitarist went on at 19.30 & Soundscaped for 10 minutes. The Humans then walked on & played a set of 1’05’ with two encores: an overall performance time of 1’25”.
The performance was a community event, and much of what I hope a performance might be: celebration, communion, a form of worship, fun. That is, a performance not currently possible in a situation mediated by commerce, attended by reviewers (particularly English) paid to present opinionation, audients with consumer rights to behave however they want regardless of manners & consideration of others, and where alcohol is served as a necessary means of raising income for the venue; ie where performance = death.
Afterwards we visited PJ & Richard Crook, who live nearby, for cordial, tea & hellos to various guests & audients & were given a tour of
Pam’s studio. Most enjoyable & part of an evening’s sense of community & worthwhile endeavour.
Returning home & supper with Bill. Washing up.
To gentle.
