Bredonborough A code of ethics

10.30

Bredonborough.

A code of ethics aims to remind us of right action when:
conscience is unawakened;
conscience is awakened but we are deaf to its promptings;
we choose to act otherwise.

This is primarily my history library. Touching widely on the histories of the world/s through three generations of historians, the primary region is English & British history.

But who will tell me of the Inner England? The move to international ascendancy since Elizabeth, rapid industrialisation, the Navy’s increasing strength, the growth of Empire, the resources of its peoples & land, the effects of the Sugar Triangle & the malign resource of slave labour, the heyday of political & economic power & influence and their erosion through two World Wars, the recalibration of scale, social & agricultural histories to humanize the economic & political - all these & more are well represented.

But who will speak to me of the Inner England? What are its characteristics & qualities? Represented by whom? Is this inner England still living & available?
