Gustav is vibrating life in The Basement. My pal Harald Rey from Germany recently sent me the 10th. (reconstructed) Symphony, for which I am most grateful. The picture of Mahler I find in the music is rather different to Ken Russell's presentation of the composer; although Georgina Hale as Mrs. Mahler dancing "impressionistically" in front of jack-booted soldiers while discarding her clothing - Mahler looking on through a glass visor on his coffin - is an impressive creation in its own way, of its own kind.
I drove to the office today listening to "Kind Of Blue" & drove back to "Birth Of The Cool". The driving is also an opportunity to catch up on calls to David Singleton, my Wife & my Sister (hands free, of course).
Today the Crimsons felt like they were slowing down. Pat has need of more production time but, in terms of the music, my sense is that the next step is an audience. Or several audiences. Maybe, maybe even audiences who have never seen or heard Crimson, as well as those who have.
