Birchmere Theater
December 1997 was a busy month for Robert Fripp. There had been four ProjeKct One shows in London followed by a Soundscapes performance at St. Peter’s Church in Newlyn, Cornwall. After that, it was over the Atlantic and this short run of Soundscape concerts, the first of which was at this show at Birchemere.
The rolling Dreamscape motif that dominates the concert here is especially beautiful in its early stages, moving through a series of sustained layers that simmer gently before being consumed by the next serene wave.
In addition to the music, Robert and Patricia Fripp participated in a Q&A session. While this download features the music only, the conversational parts of the shows were recorded and later released by Fripp’s sister, under the collected title, Unplugged! Intimate Conversations With Robert, via her website.
