Despite suffering from a slightly shaky start, The ConstruKction Of Light gets this show in Los Angeles off to a flying start although you can tell from the incredulous whoops from the band that they’ve only just made it. They more than make up for it with a truly ferocious version of Frying Pan that sizzles and burns from first note till last. Equipment problems appear to momentarily unseat EleKtriK’s confidence here and there as Ade’s “Now that will make you sweat” comment afterwards indicates. Level Five reasserts the beast big time! For eye-witness Lou Fazio talking about what was then a new composition for the audience, it was a CAPSLOCK moment. “THIS PIECE ALONE IS WORTH THE PRICE OF THE CONCERT TICKET...big Sabbathy main riff(it's KC style stoner-metal!), with a thrak-like power chord middle section with staccato rhythms.... which are interspersed with ferocious fripp/gunn crawling unison lines. again the band references its repertoire but spins it into beastly new pleasures.” And speaking of things beastly and pleasurable, LTIA Pt IV rages and roars to brilliant effect with Belew being especially potent on this outing.
