The Deception Of The Thrush quickly established itself as a remarkable point of stillness and reflection within the ProjeKcts fast-moving and frequently turbulent setlist. It certainly became a much-loved high point when it transitioned to King Crimson’s Double Duo performances from 2000 all the way through to its final performance in New Haven in 2003.
Usually, the mood was created by Fripp’s layering of strings, setting up a space in which Trey Gunn's plaintive soloing would shine and dazzle. Here, however, in this isolated guitar track taken from the second live performance of Thrush with ProjeKct 2, it’s Robert who does the honours. Catching a glimpse of something ineffable along the way, it’s a deeply moving moment.
