Taken from the session reels of The ConstruKction Of Light the dazzling run of notes dates back at least to 1998 when this section was tried out during ProjeKct Four’s soundcheck. It still stands as one of the most complex and technically challenging pieces Fripp has devised. Four takes of this section were performed by Fripp during the sessions with the third judged best.
One can only wonder at what it must take to be able to execute this piece. Trey Gunn offered this perspective “I mean, you can't feel sorry for the guy because he wrote these parts. Plus, he's been practising for this style of playing for nearly as long as I have known him. But still, this is the most difficult articulation on a guitar that is in any repertoire. Period.
