Coming after Level Five and preceding 21st Century Schizoid Man, this cover of David Bowie’s anthemic piece about love and hope, briefly carves out an entirely different atmosphere to the rest of the music heard in a KC gig. As the octet embraces its inner pop star, the song always seems to facilitate outbreaks of air-punching, whoops and a moment of unfettered wigging-out among punters.

I went in cold—no idea what the setlist might consist of and zero expectations. I left smiling and grateful for an amazing music experience. The staff at the Cap is always pleasant, and the audience seemed (largely) to heed the wishes of the performer’s “no photos/vids” request. In fact, I rarely saw anyone even pull out a phone during the performance to check texts/emails which meant (hopefully) that LOTS more folks were “in the moment”. A rare occurrence these days, and a delight. Thanks very much for doing what you do. Long may the mighty Crim run!
