If it’s Tuesday it must be Los Angeles. Guitarist Jakko Jakszyk was initially shocked when Robert informed him that he would be playing the fast cross-picking parts of LTIA Pt I but by the time the tour began the fiendishly complex pattern was evidiently well under his fingertips. Because Fripp was playing in New Standard Tuning it fell to Jakszyk to replicate those parts which NST now denied its composer. Pictures Of A City is another piece in which Jakszyk dazzles in the guitar department. If that was all he was bringing to the party, that would be enough but of course, he’s also providing superb vocals.
