As these soundscapes cautiously at first edge their way in and unfurl we seem to move from one border to another, the music enabling a point of crossing as we engage and allow that almost mystical connection to take hold. In the cold light of day that may all sound rather fanciful but, for this listener at least, something magical occurs when this music appears.
During Time Stands Still, the respectful audience might have recognised a beautiful melodic fragment from Fripp and Eno’s Evening Star. A certain melancholic air always accompanies this music but after a delicate cluster of notes, the slow fade to silence in the closing minute of Paradise Regained is full of hope.
