With King Crimson’s THRAK safely in the can, January 1995 saw Fripp undertake his first Soundscapes tour of the year which included an appearance at Tower Records in Los Angeles. Keen listeners will recognise in the opening notes the same setting that had acted as a prelude to the EP edition of Vrooom, courtesy of Fripp’s new Eventide-heavy rig. This excerpt from the Tower Records show first appeared on Guitar World Presents: Guitars that rule the world, Vol 2 Smell the Fuzz, The Superstar Guitar Album, released in 1996. The dissonant moods in this piece are in marked contrast to the serene folds of sound excerpted from the same show and which appeared on 1995’s A Blessing Of Tears, entitled Second Light.
