Compared to some of their road trips between gigs the 75 miles from Chicago to Rockford is but a hop, skip and jump for these sprightly gagsters. The pace is pretty frantic from the first number with Johnny Toobad on the verge of creeping ahead of his bandmates as they rip through Inductive Resonance, Trap, and the toe-tapping hit-single that never was, Heptaparaparshinokh. As his response to some off-stage barracking from a persistent member of the crowd after Thrang indicates, the guitarist is a little tetchy. But my, oh my, just listen to the way that energy is poured into the soloing Christian Children and beyond. You could light and heat a whole city just from the juice coming from that torrent of notes during Eye Needle.
