Alex 'Stormy' Mundy has made two additions to the online archives from King Crimson's two consecutive performances at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. Detailed information and download: June 5th, 1984 | June 6th, 1984 On Sid Smith's notes from the June 6th performance: Just as Belew is about to make another announcement, Levin taps out the prelude to Elephant Talk but Belew signals him to stop. “Tony Levin’s an excitable guy,” he explains. “It also happens to be Tony Levin’s birthday today” causing sustained applause and appreciation from the lively crowd who begin singing Happy Birthday accompanied by some non-scripted Sticking from the man himself. Quite a moment! As we transitioned to a new arrangement for newsing on the site, a few things have slipped away, Tony's birthday one of them... A belated Happy Birthday to the longest-serving King Crimson bassist Tony Levin! On his birthday, Tony announced: "I’m celebrating finishing my new album. It’ll be out in the fall, packaged with interesting photos of my basses, titled “Bringing It Down to the Bass” - I’d say that describes pretty well what it is that I do!"

King Crimson's 9th studio album was released 42 years ago today in 1982. The second of three albums produced in the 1980s, it has frequently been overlooked in favour of Discipline and Three Of A Perfect Pair. The album catches King Crimson at an artistic crossroads - maintaining the radical trajectory outlined in 1981 or fall back on a more conventional approach to writing? The result was an album that was hard to make and nearly caused the group to fall apart.

On June 28th 1974, King Crimson’s New Jersey concert was recorded to multi-track tape. On June 28th 2024, 50 years later to the date of that recording, the full concert will be reissued, as a 3,000 copies limited edition on 200gram coloured (blue sparkle) Vinyl.
