DGM HQ A landlordly butcherly

08.53

DGM HQ.

A landlordly, butcherly accent of the local variety is coming through the thin partition that has pretensions to the name wall.

Today the Vienna Extended Circle Project begins.

12.22  David has determined how the multi-tracking took place on ITWOP.

Poseidon was recorded at Wessex Studios on 8-track. To accommodate the multiple overdubbing, this involved multiple bounces from the 8-track to a synced 4-track, which would then be bounced back to the 8-track as a stereo pair. David has found the early sub-bounces and says that Steven @ Wilson World HQ will have a field day accessing the early pre-bounce tracks.

The first 16-track recording for KC was on Lizard, later the same year (1970).

Bursting with enthusiasm through the door to the Chamber of Venality…

… David has found an unmarked reel…

David speculates that he may have found the missing 8-track master of Schizoid Man. This went missing at least 32 years ago when I examined ITCOTCK masters at Air Studios in Oxford Circus. The original masters were kept in an unlocked cupboard in the kitchen of Wessex, not exactly a secure archive. Well, we don’t yet know what’s on this, but we discovered the missing first-generation 2-track master of ITCOTCK from a pile of tapes held in the Virgin tape store, unmarked & missing since 1969; this discovery by Simon Heyworth when we were re-mastering the catalogue at Sanctuary, prior to Simon’s relocation to Dartmoor

So, perhaps we’ll get lucky.
